Dr. Jorge Martinez-Gil (Plasencia, july 1983) is an University Professor and Academics of Computer Science. His work is focused in the Data & Knowledge Engineering field. 

He currently holds an Acting Professorship (Profesor sustituto) within the Department of Computer Science Engineering & Telematics from the University of Extremadura (Spain)


****Research****

His main research interests are related with the study of semantic similarity, thus, determining the similarity between expressions represented by different lexicographies but sharing the same meaning. In the past, he has addressed the ontology meta-matching and reverse ontology matching problems.

****Publications****

Act. Prof. Dr. Martinez-Gil has published more than 30 scientific papers, including those published by prestigious academic journals like SIGMOD Record, Knowledge and Information Systems, Knowledge Engineering Review, Online Information Review, Journal of Universal Computer Science, Journal of Computer Science & Technology, and so on.

****Teaching****

Related to teaching, Prof. Martinez-Gil is the responsible for the subjects Foundations of Computer Science and, Information Systems for the Public Administration, among others, in the Law & Public Management School at Caceres.

****Service & Professional activities****

He has been involved in R&D projects (including andalousian, spanish, and european) continuously since 2006.

He has served as a project evaluator for a number of funding agencies.

He is a reviewer for conferences and journals related to the Data and Knowledge Engineering field, including IEEE ToL, KAIS, KBS, and so on.

Moreover, he has been an invited researcher within the University of Leipzig (Germany) in 2009 and STI Innsbruck (Austria) in 2010.

He is an active member of the ACM since 2011.
